What factors in the middle colonies produced a thriving middle class

There were  few factors in the middle colonies that produced a thriving middle class. One of the main factors were the merchants could afford to import speciality items from England. The colonists would pay for the most expansive items and this quickly helped to develop the classes among the society. The merchants were at the top of the middle class families.
