The Monroe Doctrine still exists today.

Explanation:

Named after President James Monroe, it was a policy that began around 1823 and was against European imperialism in either North or South America.

The Doctrine viewed any European colonial attempts in the Continent as an act of aggression against the United States.

This eventually gave way to the popular description of South America as United States 'Backyard'.

To this day, United States heavily guarded this policy and ensures that all affairs in South and North America are heavily influenced by the country.

However, the doctrine itself has had no impact on the so-called War on Terror.
