Not only did it change how England was governed, but it also impacted American colonists. Several of the rights in the American Bill of Rights are almost direct lifts from the English Bill.

Motives for the revolution were quite complex, which included both religious and political concerns. In the Glorious Revolution, King James II was overthrown. The Glorious Revolution changed how England was governed. The England parliament had more power over the monarchy. It became the beginning of political democracy. Mary and William received more restrictions from Parliament, which caused a shift in the distribution of power. The new king and queen finally signed the Declaration of Rights. This was also known as the Bill of Rights, which managed to limit and define the regent’s power for the first time.

Impacts on the American colonist
