Paleoanthropologists have found stone tool marks on homo erectus bones, and this bit of information has been spun on tv as “cannibal hominids.” a valid criticism of this sensationalistic conclusion is:

The stone tool marks on Homo Erectus bones indicate that flesh was removed from the bone,but it is unclear whether to consume it or not.  

Explanation:      

According to the Paleoanthropologists, cannibalism among the hominids occurred about 800,000 years ago. There is no single explanation to state the reason for cannibalism among the Homo Erectus bones. The killing of the people may be related to defending themselves from the neighboring territory groups or to get nutritional value from the flesh.
