write one page on the following topic. use a five paragraph essay format with a thesis sentence. be sure to use specific examples and to cite your resources.
the new deal created a new social contract between the government and the people. the government now made laws that affected people's daily lives. this laid the groundwork for our current social programs. is this growth of the government what the founding fathers had envisioned? is america better off today?
in other words: before the new deal, the government was small. since the new deal, it has grown larger and larger (responsible for more duties not found in the constitution). is big government good for the american people or should it be limited? example: labor laws and federal protection for medications are good. but do we need the government telling us to wear helmets when we ride bikes or to not buy large sodas?
introduction - explain an overview of the topic and include your thesis (decide if you think bigger government is positive or negative for america).
1st paragraph - reason number one to support your thesis.
2nd paragraph - reason number two to support your thesis.
3rd paragraph - reason number three to support your thesis.
conclusion - tie it all up.
remember - you can agree with some of the other points of view.
