The U.S should not have engaged in proxy wars during the Cold War because not only were the a HUGE drain on our resources but they also resulted in social unrest among people stateside. While some may argue that the proxy wars thaat took place were neccasary, all they really did was drain resources, endanger the lives of American citizens, further increase political tensions globally, and propagate violence and animosity.
