The code detailed Julius's role as a courier and served to recruit spies. Ethel acted as an accessory. The National Archives of the United States in 2008 published the testimony of a jury related to the prosecution of the Rosenberg family. Published documents revealed that Ethel was not directly involved in the spying. Then it contradicted the accusations made by the government.
