The migration was from mainland Europe and it was consisted of Germanic tribes, with the Saxons making the most of the migrants. It is not known though why this migration occurred, and what is most interesting there isn't any real proof that supports properly this hypothesis. The proof about this is made out of the sudden change in the style of clothing and use of certain tools, but no skeletal or genetic evidence prove this.
