These differences in cultural, political and economic opinions between Russia and the United States had high stress that would be felt throughout the rest of the world. This battle for dominance was demonstrated through proxy wars (3rd party wars) all around the world, propaganda, and spying, mental warfare, and technical power competitions, e.g., the race to develop and utilize spacecraft. Throughout these 40 or so years of this matter, nationalistic beliefs rose, causing countries to show a sense of hatred and hostility towards others who did not expect the same thing.
