He frequently went on hunting and camping trips and often wrote about his love for the environment and sorrow that at the declining population of various animals and habitats.

He established the US Forest Service, 4 nationally regulated hunting grounds, 18 national monuments, created restrictions on the hunting of various animals, created 150 national forests, over 50 bird reserves, and much more. He's also known for protecting roughly 230 million acres of public land from governmental intervention or industrial purposes.

As for the CCC, it was a relief program designed to give workers jobs during the great depression. It employed millions and usually involved civil construction or environmental construction, such as park infrastructure. It was created to give jobs, aid the ailing economy, and build up American infrastructure.
