Which geographic factor contributed to the formation of the independent city-states in ancient grece

Two things:

1. Greece is very mountainious

2. Greece has a lot of scattered islands

Both these factors made it very hard to communicate with one another, so communities set up indepedent city-states

Do you have more info about it ? i doubt this is the answer because i don't have all the information but if trouble was brewing in a clinic maybe it was an argument as to which clinic was better or smth of that nature
