After asserting natural rights in the opening section, saying that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," then the Declaration of Independence goes on to give a list of "facts to be submitted to a candid world."
