Explanation:  Emperor Constantine died in 337 AD, who for his life moved the capital to Constantinople or as it was called Byzantium before. Since the Roman Empire, which grew from the Roman Republic into an Empire in 27 BC, lasted as a whole for several centuries and became very widespread and difficult to govern from one place, when Emperor Diocletian, upon his accession to the throne, ordered the Empire to be divided into two acts, which happened 284 AD.  

If we refer to the Western Roman Empire, it lasted for about another hundred years after Constantine's death, more precisely until 476 AD, when the Roman Empire was conquered by the German ruler Odovacar (Odoacer, Odoacere) and thus the Western Roman Empire ceased to exist or fell under barbaric rule. The Eastern Roman Empire or known as Byzantium existed for about another thousand years, more precisely until 1453, and the fall of Constantinople.
