The "Glorious Revolution" took place in 1688. As a result of the revolution, King James II abdicated. He was succeeded by Mary, his daughter and William of Orange, but before they could be proclaimed as king and queen they were made to agree to accepting the Bill of Rights. They finally did this the next year. 1689. The Bill limited the power of the king and queen, establishing that the crown could not interfere with the Law and established guarantees for the citizens from the powers of the crown.
