How was the south’s economy during reconstruction similar to its economy when slavery still existed ?

The south still depended on the north for manufacturing goods. during the civil war the north couldn’t trade with the south so they started depending on other nations for their cotton and other goods. also europe did the same and so the economy in the south got very bad. i hope this helps.
