Both the French revolution and the American revolution inspired nationalist movements in Latin America. The French revolution, although it wasn't an independence revolution, ultimately led to the independence of Haiti, the first country to become independent from is mother country France. Both revolutions spread ideals of equality and sovereignty across its areas of influence.
