Despite being able to live peacefully amongst european settlers, why were even the civilized indian tribes forced to relocate to reservations under the dawes act? european americans were hungry for land and feared the native americans. the native americans sold off their land because they did not have enough funds to survive. the native americans wanted more lands to use for hunting and trapping. civilized native american tribes wanted to end migratory patterns.
