The Himalayan Mountain Range is formed by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Namely, the Indian tectonic plate has been moving towards Asia, and at one point of time hit the Asian shores. Because the two tectonic plates have the same density, they were and still are creating an enormous pressure on the land which causes it to lift up, thus the Himalayas have formed over time. This process continues nowadays and the Himalayas are growing in height by few centimeters every year.
