Briefly describe what was the gold rush 1849

The Gold Rush was when gold was found in Sacramento, California and a lot of people rushed over there to the West in hopes of finding gold in 1849. It is also called the California Gold Rush and the people that went to the West to find gold were called 49ers. But the people almost never found gold and gold was scarce there.
