Why did native americans have to renegotiate treaties with the u. s. government after the civil war? a) many of them had fought for the confederate army, so they were perceived as an enemy of the nation. b) because they had lost so many tribal members, they wanted to make new arrangements with the government. c) they had established new tribal leaders after the war and wanted the u. s. government to recognize them. d) they had challenged the old terms in court and had permission from the supreme court to make adjustments.
