Ankle Sprain occurs and such injuries to the ligaments or tendons of the ankle happen during athletic events.   A sprained ankle is an injury that occurs when you roll, twist or turn your ankle in an awkward way. The best remedy for the sprain is to put ice to keep down the swelling.  Rest your ankle by not walking on it and elevate the foot by reclining and propping it up above the waist or heart as needed.
