If you'd like to improve communication, one of the first things you should try when speaking to someone is to use "you" statements bring in a mediator repeat yourself many times use "i" statements

I would immediately cancel out bringing in a mediator or repeating yourself many times. Those don't sound like they would help improve communcation.
