When a crisis hot line is called, usually the peer thinks the person is in immediate danger.

An example can be something like:

'I wish I could just die.' (suicidal hot line)

Obviously, those people are in need of help but at this point, they would usually be unmotivated to call a hot line since they're too deep into their mental issue. Two things you could say is convincing a peer that their life would truly get better by getting help and you would support them taking this route (you wouldn't want to see your friend in pain like this, and if you put it in a different perspective they might be fine with it since you'd be motivating them); you can also offer them understanding and amazing advice at a time of need since they'll trust you. Reassuring them is something they really need since they can't do it themselves.
