Rigid Containers for Immediate Use Steam Sterilization Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS): 1. Medicare will not reimburse facilities for the costs associated with the development of selected SSIs. 2. Medicare will reimburse hospitals at a reduced rate for treating all SSIs. 3. The patient can be billed for a percentage of the additional costs of treating SSIs. 4. The patient cannot be billed for additional costs of treating SSIs.
