Create an Emergency Action Plan Safety is not just for the workplace—you need to practice safety at home too. For this activity, you will create an emergency action plan for either your home or your classroom. You may refer to online samples of safety plans but make your emergency action plan specific to your space and the people who are usually in that space.

Sections of the plan must include:

A cover page with address, names of all occupants, and emergency phone numbers for each
A list of local emergency phone numbers
Identify five electrical, chemical, or physical hazards that exist in the space
Plan at least one way to reduce the risk posed by each of the five hazards
Name the people and roles they will play in the event of an emergency
Identify evacuation routes and safe spaces for sheltering or assembling
Identify five specific emergency situations that could occur
Plan the steps to be taken in each of the five emergency situations
