Select a manual lifting task in your workplace or another work environment. Then, follow the steps below using the NIOSH Lifting Equation (NIOSH, 1994).
1. Describe the manual lifting task.
2. Get the measurements of all the task variables for the task. Those are: (H, V, F, D, A, and C).
3. Obtain the values of the multipliers (HM, VM, FM, DM, AM, and CM) using the task variables (H, V, F, D, A, and C). Each multiplier can be found in the table or can be computed using the appropriate formula.
4. Obtain the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL)
5. Obtain the Lifting Index (LI).
