Heat and ice can also be responsible for relief due to pain but patients with sensory loss should be sensibly perceived during the use of ice or heat to avoid skin damage. In addition, superficial ice treatment might injure the peroneal nerve at the fibular head when applied the wrong way. The ice must not be applied directly on skin but as a replacement for this it should be placed between in a towel. Cold treatment must be applied for 10 to 15 minutes every 2 to 3 hours for inflammation and pain and directly after action that worsens the symptoms. It is significant to do strengthening and stretching exercises to keep muscle strength. These movements may be done at home or with a therapist. If pain lasts to get worse in regardless of the treatment or a cyst is existing, surgery may be desirable to dismiss the burden on the nerve. If the pressure on the nerve is in arrears to compartment syndrome, a fascial issue may need to be performed. The earlier surgery is executed, the better the chances of full recovery.
