The diagnostic term pre/patellar burs/itis means an inflamed bursa below the knee. it is a condition where the bursa is inflamed that is located in the front part of the patella or the kneecap. it usually happens as a result of a trauma to the knee that occurs repeatedly such as kneeling on surfaces that are hard. the bursa would become irritated so it would produce too much fluid causing it to swell and add pressure the knee. it is also called as roofer's knee and housemaids knee.  jobs that are at risk of developing this are roofers, plumbers, coal miners, gardeners and carpet layers.
