Extraneous variables are one of the types of variables which lowers the internal validity. Their factors are being experienced but not studied.

Confounding variables are well related to variables which are independent and they are mostly affect variables which are dependent.

Examples of confounding variables include lack of exercise can lead to weight loss. The independent variables here is the lack of exercise while dependent is weight loss.
