The Salmonella acquires resistance to anti-tumor drugs, due to the presence of a protein called as SipA. However, these days Salmonella itself is being used for the treatments of cancers. Bacteria is injected into the cancer cells, where they divide and multiply, causing infection and cell death. The antibodies against Salmonella are also produced by the body, which provides resistance to infection in the healthy cells. Bacteria selectively travels towards cancer cells, by sensing more nutrients in them.
