The tricuspid valve will close for a few seconds to prevent the back flow of the blood to the right atrium. Valves are small flaps that are found in between the right and left atria and ventricles. These valves function like doors that open and close when blood passes through the chambers of the heart. If these valves are not present, back flow of blood between the chambers will occur and the heart will malfunction.
