A casual friendship is something like, for example, someone that is in one or two of your classes, that you talk to and wave to, but do not hang out with as much as you do a close friend. Close friendships and casual friendships both have a few things in common: they both include spreading kindness in a benevolent way, and they both include somebody more than just an acquaintance. Casual friendships lack the closeness and sincerity that close friendships have, and you are not involved in that person's life as much as a close friend would be. Thank you!

They benefit each individual because they explore different points of view, learn to respect differences, and determine whether or not to be a leader or follower. A close friendship may have started as a casual friendship but transitioned when a deeper bond was formed. A friend is a person that you go to when expressing your emotions. Friends help reduce stressors, increase happiness, and provide support when it's needed.
