Explain the difference (in respect to the central nervous system) between a stimulant and a depressant. What are some of the differences you would see between overdoses with each

The answer is quite simply put... in the names :3

Explanation: Stimulants are types of drugs that stimulate the central nervous system. With users and those who have overdosed on CNS stimulants such as Amphetamines, Cocaine, and Caffeine you will see INCREASES of Heart Rate, Respiratory Rate, Blood Pressure (stimulants act upon the sympathetic nervous system, ie “fight or flight”). Additionally you will see pupil dilation, increased agitation, and some audio-visual hallucinations.

With CNS depressants such as Opioids, you will see depressed CNS functions, such DECREASED Respiratory drive, Heart Rate, and Blood pressure. Additionally you will notice patients become sluggish and have decreased level of consciousness. Last difference are pinpoint pupils.
