*Undertale fandom please!* Please tell me when my friend thinks Chara is Evil. Chara isn't evil, here's why.

it's really simple, honestly: they haven't done anything. the worst they've been described as is "not the greatest person". they could've just been kind of a je_rk. y'know, like most children. because chara is a child.

don't even bring up the geno_cide route. chara doesn't force frisk to do ANYTHING, with maybe the exception of certain scripted events at the end of the route (i'll talk about that later). it's YOU who makes their decisions, and you are NOT chara. you did NOT become the adopted sibling of asriel, you did NOT enact a plan with asriel to free all the monsters... chara is their OWN character. on the topic of the plan: they didn't know that what would happen would happen! there was no way of them knowing! they're not an evil mastermind, they're a child! don't say that they had to have known the humans' reactions, they couldn't! they're a child! children do not have the rationalization and decision making abilities as an adult! oh, yeah, by the way, toriel had basically the same idea at the end of the true pacifist route. she scolded asgore for not simply taking one soul, going up to the surface, and getting more. if chara's evil for this plan, toriel's worse, considering she had to have known what would happen.

what about the ending of the geno_cide route, though? number one: they shame the player for doing it! they talk about how you think you're above consequences, and shows you're not. they say that the reasoning for their awakening is power... hm, i wonder why they believe that? maybe it's because what YOU did in the route. they seem confused when you don't des_troy everything, as well.

wanna know why?

chara's a child.

and children are really impressionable.

why do they (maybe) do the scripted events in the geno_cide route? because that's what you've done. why were they so flabber_gasted at you not destroying everything? that's what you've done. you were their only point of reference during the route, and they decided to follow what you did, because that's what they thought their purpose was. they rationalized they became awake because of power, because they had to ki_ll everything, that that was their DESTINY, because of you.
