What are some instances in which one should refrain from stretching

If you had a recent broken bone or tore a ligament. 
Or you did too many exercises the day before and over loaded the amount of exercise that you were originally supposed to do. That would be a time to relax your muscles and ligaments so your system can reboot itself and get ready for more exercises. 
These scenarios would be a time to refrain from stretching.
