Usually a more advanced position follows more specialty training than an entry level position.

1. Research fields that interest you.
2. Learn what areas of additional study (book/classes) may be needed to advance in that area.
3. Research types of hands-on experience or internships that are available in that field.
4. Visit the sites to see if what is being done is what you expect.
5. Find a mentor in the field who will help guide you in your study.
