There are several factors that influence the malnutrition and dehydration of older adults, among them, some of which are biological, psychological and social. The older adult may have physical problems in  salivation, chewing and swallowing problems. Similarly, older adults may have metabolic problems that aggravate the situation.

Finally there may also be problems of depression and their own context can aggravate the situation
