Families, peers, media, and school all influence one's level of self-esteem.

This statement is true. We reflect based upon what we see around us; especially at a young age. If your family is calling you names, your self esteem may be lowered. If your friends are picking on your look, your self esteem may be lowered. Things you see in the media, like unrealistic body standards of models, may weaken self esteem. On the other hand, being positively reinforced by your families, peers, friends, and school can all positively impact your self esteem.
