How does television, phones, computers, and other telecommunication technologies affect mental and emotional health?

These technologies may seem great, but they play a very bad role in our mental and emotional health. We have become a society of addicts, the only difference between being addicted to your phone and being addicted to drugs is the phone addiction is socially acceptable. We always have our phones with us and we are always checking our phones. Hence we do not allow our minds to stop working, to rest, and to be silent. We put our minds in a consent state of "monkey mind", constantly jumping and active. Think of the fear and panic one goes through if they misplace their phone or it gets broke. Not to mention fake news, consent drama, and not being able to escape the "rat race" of work anymore.
