There are significant differences between this two types of agriculture.

Subsistence agriculture is practiced in poor and developing countries, commercial agriculture mainly in the developed countries. 

Subsistence agriculture uses little to no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, while the commercial agriculture uses them extensively.

In subsistence agriculture we have production of food for the people that produce it and usually there's no surplus for selling, while the production in the commercial agriculture is exclusively for the market.

In subsistence agriculture the tools used are primitive, while in commercial agriculture the tools are much more sophisticated.
