Why are experts starting to talk about a looming "water crisis"?

Experts are starting to talk about a "water crisis", because there are many people around the world that don't have easy access to water. To be more factual, there are more than 1.2 billion people that don't have easy access to clean water. That's more than the entire population of the U.S.. It's becoming a bigger problem as well. As the world population gets bigger and bigger, there will be more competition for freshwater and many more will be unable to have access to it, especially since only 1% of it is available for use on Earth. The rest of the freshwater is frozen in ice caps at the poles. The sad news is that those ice caps can't refreeze again. They've frozen past the point of no return, which causes lots of problems for the environment. We need those ice caps to reflect the suns rays to keep our climate temperature cooler and prevent the Earth from heating up.
