A linear settlement is a type of settlement where people settle and build homes formed in a straight line along a road, a river, a valley etc. Most linear settlements located in Canada or other developed countries in the world are along roads (aka. the most used transport route). People in linear settlements find it easier and faster to get to certain locations because of how close the distance between their house and the road is.
