Plastic inventions changed American society for the better. The low cost and versatility of plastics made consumer goods more widely accessible and allowed for critical developments in innumerable fields. Plastics improved safety, with inventions like padded foam dashboards and bicycle helmets.

In the health sector, plastic is a reliable material used for a whole host of purposes such as catheters, protective gloves and lifesaving valves, meaning plastic provides world-class healthcare that is hygienic and prevents infection. At face value, plastic is bad and there is no denying that.
