By drying out, the lack of aquifers, especially in regions where freshwater is rare, will cause huge problems. People will not have enough water for their needs, and agriculture will not be possible. The crust will destabilize, and as it adjusts there will be earthquakes. The crust that has been above the aquifer will crumble because of the empty space below it and the influence of gravity, meaning that huge openings will get created, and if there is any infrastructure in the area it will get fully destroyer.
