In Pakistan cottage consists of an important part of the economy especially in rural areas. It is of high importance in cities and towns. They have export values and are in high demand.  Various small scale and medium scale industries in rural and urban Pakistan are responsible for textiles, carpets, embroideries, jewelry, cutlery, and other sport goods The industry is facing limited profits, economies of scale are not available and the costs of production are high. Exploitation by wholesalers. Electricity is not available in rural areas.
