Why is Mexico and parts of Central America prone to earthquakes

Mexico and other Central American countries are more susceptible to earthquakes because those countries are in something called a subduction zone. "Subduction zones are the parts of the earth where one slab of the crust is slowly sliding under another." This then causes earthquakes due to the friction of it sliding.
