Auckland, New Zealand is mostly covered by volcanoes. In Auckland city there are 49 discrete volcanoes; this is the area referred to as the Auckland volcanic field.

Reason 1: It owns its origin to the presence of a region of hot rock knows hot spot or plume located about 100km beneath the city. In this hotspot, temperatures are high enough so that rock begins to melt.
