Some believe the remote and pristine Alaskan wilderness holds the answer to the oil question. Alaska is home to many natural resources, including extensive oil reserves, but drilling for oil in Alaska has become a contentious topic. The 2010 Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico—in which oil leaked unchecked into the Gulf of Mexico for months—was one of the worst environment disasters in U. S. history.
