When the tectonic plates of our planet move they can cause earthquakes or formations of new continents. The ways in which the plates interact with each other is crashing, overlapping or crossing.

The three types that we can find in this category are:  

Divergent Boundary, where the plates move away from each other and can cause earthquakes or oceanic crusts caused by the magma that leaves the interior of the earth.

Convergent Boundary, unlike in the divergent boundary, here the plates instead of moving away, they approach, which causes them to collide. The way in which this affects the surface of the earth is by generating mountain formations that rise due to this collision.

Transform Plate Boundary, during this process one plate moves horizontally with respect to the other, and produces no change in the surface of the earth.
