The other day i was pulled over for running a red light. when the police officer came up to my car to issue me a ticket, i said "i’m sorry officer, but i didn’t see the red light. you see, i was driving directly toward the traffic light, so the doppler shift caused the light’s wavelength to blueshift. the traffic light actually appeared green to me as i was driving toward the intersection, so i didn’t know i was supposed to stop." should the police officer take this as a valid excuse and decide not to issue me a ticket? why or why not? use at least one calculation and your understanding of the doppler effect to explain your answer. (some potentially information — the wavelengths of red and green light are approximately 650 nm and 550 nm, respectively.)
